Think
However (now allow me to use english, since the following conversation occured in english), despite his hobby which is not so popular among the students, he is one good lecturer. He’s very attentive, and teaches with enthusiasm. Have I ever mention in this blog, that I’m suffering from something that I call ‘lack-of-attention’ disorder? I can never pay attention in class, except in social science subjects such as sociology, psychology, or history of medicine. That one, I can focus up to 3 hours or more.
Ok. So, let’s call him Dr. RK.
Dr. RK: Which antibiotic group that we cannot give to pregnant woman?
Me: …………..
Dr. RK: AMINOGLYCOSIDE!!
By the way, once attacked, I may become very reactive and offensive.
Dr. RK: Why?
Me: Because it has something to do with protein synthesis…?
Dr. RK: No! Antibiotics never interfere with synthesis of human protein.
Me: …………………
Dr. RK: Because it can cause deafness to the foetus!!
Me: BUT YOU SAID IT CANNOT INTERFERE WITH SYNTHESIS OF HUMAN PROTEIN!!!
Dr. RK: IT CANNOT. IT JUST CAUSES HEARING LOSS TO THE BABY!!!
Me: WELL, HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN???!!! (I ‘sincerely’ am not clear, how come it can cause deafness, without interfering the synthesis of human protein)
Dr. RK: ……….…..!!!!!
It wasn’t him. It was me. At this point, I should realize, being a university student, I have to be proactive. I should do my own reading. This is not school anymore. No spoon feeding. If I want more knowledge, I should seek for it myself. I should not just leave it to my lecturers to feed me.
Minggu lepas (izinkan saya bertukar ke Bahasa Melayu tercinta pula) saya meninggalkan adik-adik bulatan gembira saya dengan satu persoalan.
“Kenapa ikut usrah?”
“Nak tambah ilmu!”
“Kalau nak tambah ilmu, tengok Youtube. Atau baca blog ustaz-ustaz yang popular.”
“……………”
“Akak ni pelajar Medic je. Tak belajar agama tinggi pun. Buat apa nak belajar agama dengan akak. Ustaz-ustaz tu lagi bagus. Mereka memang pakar dalam bidang agama pun. Lebih baik dengar dari mereka.”
“…………..”
“Kenapa ikut usrah??”

Thoughts: Money is not evil
"As we all know, every worthwhile goal has a process and takes work. For example, to become a medical doctor there is a rigorous process of education and training. Many people dream of becoming a doctor, but the process gets in their way.One of the reasons people lack financial IQ, is because they want the money but not the process. What many people do not realize is that it's the process that them makes them rich, not the money. One of the reasons many lottery winners or kids who inherits family wealth are soon broke is because they received the money but didnt have to go through the process. Many other people fail to become rich because they value a steady paycheck more than the learning process of becoming financially smarter and richer. They are held back by the fear of being poor.It is this very fear that keeps them from taking the chances and solving the problems required to become rich."
